What is an Effective Literacy Teacher?

This week we have learned the steps to what an effective literacy teacher should know and how to incorporate technology as well as the importance of prior knowledge on material to make teaching language arts interesting for the students. It is important to incorporate diversity in the future in classrooms and teach language arts more effectively and more well-rounded. It is also very important to teach students the fun behind language arts (reading, writing, speaking, and listening). There are so many ways that teachers can incorporate not only technology but activities for students to learn and be engaged in the learning. Motivation is key to being an effective literacy teacher and that is the goal for the future of upcoming educators.

  1. Diversity is huge when teaching any subject, so I completely agree with this point. It is important the students know and appreciate where each other come from and how their culture works. Like you said Kayla, in acknowledging diversity in your classroom you help your students become better people. Now they have th opportunities to grow and see the world even at such a young age. Also I couldn't agree with you more about motivation! The motivation triangle will forever be ingrained in my brain!! When we actively engage our students by incorporating what they want to learn about, their interests, we are almost guaranteed to be more effective as teachers.
